Seeing beauty, thats what Teisbe Styles aka Tony is all about. I met him a few weeks ago at this underground loft party....where I was bartending. "Would you like cranberry or orange juice", i would repeat a hundread times. However, there was a B-Boy competition going on and all these boys from everywhere in the world came down to participate. It was held by one of Madonnas dancer and the winner would take home 1K. Its more then just dancing...as an artist you are suppose to feel and build on the emotions that are within you, like a journey of stories, told right before the judgment of watchin eyes.

As the only Asian there doing his thing he showed a different kind of freshness that stood him apart. A passion which you could see in his eyes. Passed me by with a smile...then came back with a little more talk. I like to say...I love confidence in a man. Before he could get to the number part....my response "hit me up on FB". We connected and there is more to him then just a little game. His energy is exuded through is dancing and you could feel the magic and emotions while he showing his skills on the dance floor.

My dear friend Vida Samadzai was born in 1980 in Kabul, Afghanistan. She is Miss Afghanistan 2003. The first Afghan woman to participate in an international beauty pageant since 1974. She represented Afghanistan in Miss Earth beauty pageant in 2003 and was given a special "beauty for a cause" award at that competition.

Vida has earlier worked in Subhash Ghai’s Black and White and claims that Ghai has asked her not to leave the film industry. Ask her if she thinks the Indian film industry will work wonders for her, as it has done for some international actors, and she smiles mischievously, “I don’t have a Salman Khan to help me bag a lead role. In the Hindi film industry foreign actresses are instantly offered item numbers. It is not that I don’t want to do them...if it’s a good production house why not? When i was down in India Mumbai we got the chance to celebrate her birthday all together it was a very fun night out, and we captured some really un memories togther.

Two days ago at Lakme India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2009 - Day 1 Bombay, India, our dear Vida starts the show and walks the runway in the Archana Kochhar show at Grand Hyatt in Bombay, India.

Im really proud of this women, she is not just beautiful but indeed a very smart and sharp lady to watch and learn from..

"I guess that beauty pageant helped shaped me," she says. "Because now I want to be 'the first' to do many things. I want to cross boundaries and milestones. I want to be the best, to do my best, to help change the world. I'm definitely not afraid of controversy anymore," she says, smiling.

There are very few vital things that I have learned in my short life: wear panties to the doctors office, don't lie to your mother, do on to others as you would like done on to you, don't pee into the wind, take the tassle off your graduation cap befor you throw it in the air, long distance relationships CAN work if you really try, covering your green beans in an obscene amount of lemon pepper doesn't mean you don't have to eat them, and friendships formed in high school can be the ones that last forever. But there are two important life lessons that I feel I need to share. 1. No one in your adult life will give two shits what you have been through in the past. You will be instantly judged on the way you carry yourself and how you act around others as opposed to the depth of your character. It sucks, but it's a fact. True friends and lovers will know take the time to get to know you, an as you grow up, more people will be willing to alter their original judgements, but be prepared for those who will not.

And 2. True love, in any form, never really dies. And though it may not be unbreakable and may seem weak at times, love isn't about a perfect fairytale, it is the product of knowing someone's heart and knowing their flaws, but embracing them anyway.

And also, there is something extremely therapeutic about having clean sheets.

You know I've always been the black sheep of the family. I was always the one with strongly held you strong beliefs when compared to everyone else. I was the one who thought strange thoughts, had weird ideas, admitted to bizarre possibilities. I saw things differently from everyone, even my best friends.i was never one conform to the norm.

While in my teens, while everyone's hormones were running wild, I was the calm and cool one. Sure I'de get into emotional situations but I always approached them in a cold and logical manner. There were lines you could cross and if you were a male then we had to fight, regardless of temper, a fight was called for. Other lines were crossed by female friends, But they were never a part of me. They were actions that were called for by some weird code I lived. None of them touched me emotionally. Down to actions that have shaped my life ever since, not a one of them touched me, not the me who lived inside.

Sure I could fake the attitude, the excitement or whatever emotion was required. I could make the proper facial expressions and body movements, I could spout the right words, I could even bring light to my eyes when needed, most of the time anyway. But nothing ever touched me, the real me.

I lived my life that way, with that feeling and outlook, for 20 years. Well that's not completely true. My fathers death touched the real me, the real grief, one way down deep inside. The one who thinks the world provides endless opportunities, that each one should be explored looking for the light inside each, and when you loose someone so close to you you realise that life is sometimes not what you really plans it to be..

But they're all that ever really touched me until my 24th year. I had a hell of a year that year,Last year and I turned really, really bad. My swings were beyond extremes and i was never sane. It was a year from hell, all except for one shining star that lit my way through that ugly year. That one single star was all I needed to make it through that year, i had her my soul mate Sahar until she was taken away from me..it has been almost 3 months now, the pain is still the same and i do miss her every single day, but i learned alot from my Sahar one of them that really life is too short, and that we should show our emotions and feelings to the people we love and care, becouse as she used to say to me Diwa Life is too short, take charge of it, Live it before it lives you up..

To be honest, when i think about this all and feel that I've got it so much more under control. That's it, I'VE got it under control. And since I reached that point but have lost my star has gone dark. But if I close my eyes and look then I can still see her..

She gives me strength every day. It comes with a price and that price is pain.

Just when I thought that creativity in India had become so stereotypical, that it drips of triteness from all its sides; just when I thought that Indian cinema had become a euphemism for putting and choreographing some back in the days over and out old men who bombard us with platitudes to the point that the very creative perceptions of the masses have been shattered beyond repair; and that public knowledge had become a commodity rarer than the elixir of life; along came Anurag Kashyap to shatter my bubble of misery, and desperation.

Respect to the man for having the guts to fight the conformist inclinations of our society and for carving out a masterful pastiche that captures the Gen Y zeitgeist with surgical precision.

Realistic casting, flawless cadence of the story, tremendous acting, impeccable music & background score, hilariously pertinent lyrics, and amazing art direction and production design all blend perfectly to form an eclectic amalgam. Also worthy of mention is the attention to the minutest of details, such as the puns intended through neon signs in the backdrop, or the theatrical touch given by the three mime artists. Sinbad one of them is agood friend to my dear Tina.

The trio from UK who consist of Sinbad, Ammo, and Jimi perform in their own formidable style with a heavy dose of showmanship to a hip soundtrack of Latin, Jazz, Indian and Electro Funk. They've been making huge waves on the Burlesque scene introducing a new form of dance known as 'Open Hand'. Having worked on an international spectrum with everyone from Kylie, Talvin Singh to Madonna, the guys have now spread their vibe in Dev D.

With their unique look inspired by everything from classic Havana of the 50's, Hollywood glitz of the 60's, right through to the American Funk movement of the 70's, the boys are appearing in various song sequences in Dev D as themselves. Their style is so organic and fluid that they can never do the same take twice - they are constantly improvising take to take and their movements cannot be pinned down to any rules.

we actually met them the night we went to watch Dev D at the cinema they were telling us they had been watching the movie 4 entire times that week..

ts truely push indian cinema 1 step forward.. so i guess if u r in love with shahrukh khan, shavva shavva(typical punjabi song u see in evry karan johar movie), a girl of dreams n a guy of dreams ..then its waste of money.. but if u really wanna watch a master piece of cinema..go n watch.. u will be amazed with the direction, cinematography and treatment of this movie. I was immediately reminded of one of my favorite Woody Allen creations.

Hats off to anurag(director of the movie yaar) and so abhay..the main actor who is now settled in New York, and yess he is also a dear friend to our Tina.I guess it is all about New York Now, the city to be in..

Go run and Watch this movie..it is an order!!

It's an open secret in the fashion industry that designers pay "wranglers" to round up and place celebrities in their front rows.

"The front row of a fashion show is the red carpet to the world.

“Twice a year, the entire world watches a designer showcase their clothes. And given that the front row is what everyone sees, you are going to want celebrities there representing your brand, wearing your clothes and getting their picture taken. You can imagine how important it is." For a designer.So important that designers routinely hire different celebrities and other wranglers to ensure that A-listers are seated in the front row or, better yet, are strutting the designer's stuff down the runway.

I once Remembered reading in Vogue: "The contract to get Ricky Martin to sit in the front row at the Armani show 4 years ago was 23 pages long. And notice that George Clooney comes to shows in Milan every year. It's not because he likes clothes so much."

Like really Ricky Martin I have no comments, then just pointing that once you get your 15minutes of fame everything and anything is possible.

I remember in 2007 London Fashion week and was surprised to see Jill my friend who used to work for Vogue walking out of the fashion show. When she was looking for her seat I told her it was behind mine. Before you could blink an eye she stormed out.

If she had just taken a moment to communicate that she was upset about sitting in the second row, I would have told her to exchange seats with me. It is always more prestigious to sit in the front row of a fashion show, but it is not that important to me.

Then later that day at the Baby Phat show, I went up to a woman in the front row who I really thought was Mary J. Blige. And despite my better judgment, I asked her if she minded if I took her picture.

“No.”

No, what? No, you don’t mind? Or no, please don’t, get away from me you Fashion Week stalker?

Quite dumbfounded yet again, I snapped the picture.

I’ve been stewing about this all day….

First off, I am NOT a regular watcher of The Hills, The OC, or any of these faux-reality MTV shows., But i do watch Gossip Girls for the sake of Chuck..

They are just ridiculous- and lets face it, I’m just way too old and out of the demographic.

BUT- I happened to catch The City today, and as someone who has so many friends working in “The City” immediately after college I want to put a few things straight to the 16-20 year old kids out there who think, for any reason, that The City represents real life in NYC.

Firstly, there is NO WAY a PR job at DVF pays enough money to support Whitney’s lifestyle. Granted, the little tart gets $75k per episode (or so I’ve read) - but really, to make it “reality” shouldn’t they have her trying to scrape by like real people her age have to do when living/working in NYC for the first time?

I remember friends that lived in NYC right after college during their first job; their bedrooms were the size of closets. Actually their bedrooms WERE the closets because well, the closets didn’t exist. Another friend lived in a studio and had a murphy bed. I thought it was super cool, although now I can only imagine how annoying it must have been to pull down your bed night after night! Imagine one of those tart socialites pulling down a murphy bed to get busy on? It would probably make the show a lot more fun, wouldn’t it!

In the episode I saw today, a love interest showed up at a dinner party (um, seriously though- who has fucking dinner parties at 21…. well, besides me… I did, didn’t I?)… with a bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne. Seriously, what kid that age #1 knows what Veuve Clicquot is and #2 brings it to a party?!

I feel bad for recent and upcoming college and university graduates like myself, we are entering a job market that is the worst since the depression.. and yet, we are bombarded with images of wealth and excess that is, at our age, almost 99% unattainable.

And even worse, they think that this is what life is really like- that after a full day of work (especially in fashion, you know at 21-22 you are worked like a dog- at least 10-11 hour days) you still look fabulous and then you go out and party. Um- you’re usually dog tired- and if you do party, it’s at home, because after paying rent, bills, student loans- there is nothing left to go out with!

Seriously though, MTV should be a little ashamed of themselves by putting this vapid show on the air… shouldn’t we be teaching our youth something a little more important? What about a reality show about what life is REALLY like!

It seems that this blog has HIT THE SPOT!!!
It is kind of heartbreaking at times when you see so much envy, hatred and jealousy in this world. There is this saying in Persian which is kind of difficult to translate in English but I guess the best attempt would be that "they do not have the eye to see". One would assume that its referring to a blind person, or even maybe about someone that fails to see the good in what you do for them in the form of ungratefulness but in reality what this Persian saying refers to are the jealous, envious or nowadays more commonly known as the haters who cannot see another individual doing good for themselves and in their lives be it in the form of success, beauty, friends, relationships etc etc...

I don't know about you guys but I LOVE this blog and I HEART Diwa for being the creative, talented, up-beat, funny, honest, trendsetting fashion philosopher that she is not cos I'm her close friend but cos of these reasons I am her friend therefore it's only fair for me to be honest, we have a very different bond which is hard for any one to understand, as everything is deep in our hearts.
In the field that I have been in I have come across many celebrities, from A list to Z list wannabes but the ironic thing to me was how these people in this blog are so much more interesting and real than these artificial and superficial people that the media consider to be famous. So to me it's these real people that I want to read and know more about and not when Britney's next breakdown will be. This blog is REAL, it's TRUE, and I promise you its a thing of tomorrow.

So "IT" you waste of human space one word of advice for you GET LOST LOSER!!!

If you have not heard about Slumdog Millionaire then you must have missed all the buzz and the word of mouth publicity the film has got over the past few weeks.

I watched it the other night and I did cry a lot, the movie is at its heart, about aspiration, and about dreams coming true.

This ‘common man' Jamal, is not angry, like the Indian men of the 1970s. He is both hopeful and relentless, defiant and proud of his origins even as the people around him call him a 'slumdog'. He knows better - that it doesn't matter where you come from, only where you are headed.

Nominations for the 81st Academy Awards® were announced last Tuesday morning by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Sid Ganis and Oscar-winning actor and Academy member Forest Whitaker. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button led the pack with 13 nominations, followed by Slumdog Millionaire with 10, and both The Dark Knight and Milk got eight.

It seems like most of the criticism comes from people who haven't seen the movie. I've talked to several people who got up and left after the first few minutes because they weren't expecting the violence and squalor from the way the movie was advertised and didn't want to see such horrible stuff about their our beloved Mumbai.

Go see Paul Blart then if you want to keep living in a fantasy world. Slumdog Millionaire” has it all, and I am sorely tempted to give it a 10/10 .

A little revelation into my life in NYC. So for those who don't know me...I was living in Asia for about 5 years and then with a straight change of direction thought to myself Iwanted to be somewhere else. So i picked up, with the help of some friends encouraging me and set forth to NYC. Needed a breather from Bombay. New York City for me right now is amazing. It feels so right to be here, to wake up every morning, riding the train with different sorts of people. Crossing the Brooklyn bridge where that American flag just stands still. For every mile you walk inspiration crosses you, for every breath a beautiful smile walks on by. Its like anything can happen in the split moment and then its no looking back.

The men here are sexy weither there in a suite and some classic shades or some jeans and sneakers they have the most amazing sense of style...its their own. The women here are gorgeous and create their own little story which screams confidence.
The other day I saw this VS model walking down the street in her army green jacket, combat boots hair up in a bun, huge earphones singing out loud to her favorite song. To me that is cool, to me that is inspiration to be confident, strong, in love and to wear whatever you want and no one really gives a fug. For the first time I feel so alive and free and accepted...not that i never did. Its just being away from the flash lights and all that Bolly isshh and recollecting my thoughts have made me appreciate life and everything that it has to offer. NYC is flashy, this is me, this is so me...i repeat. I guess for me just being in NYC is no looking back.

Born and raised in Nyc, half Black and Italian, LAW has been modeling for the last couple of years and has walked for many designers and such as Sean John and was the face of Escada summer collection. With his strong force, unique look, and the most intense eyes with the longest lashes that would melt any females heart...you have to watch out for him as he's just getting started.

Working with everyone from Madonna and making an impact in Bollywood as well. It seems like the coolness stems from the Uk...it just that it never really gets put on.

Everyone keeps asking me what the word Junglee means, as i use it non stop. Well im gonna break it down for you. It comes from the Hindi dictionary which means "Wild and Crazy". I've kind added my own little hotness to it...and it means more then just being crazy or Jung-lee. Its out there, its outside the box, its loud, eccentric, love, ecstasy, its hot pink lips with olive eyeliner, its reeses pieces butter cups frozen with green tea, its imperfection in a beautiful way, its champagne wishes and cavier dreams all in one . Its simply being YOU. Which a lot of people are afraid of being. Its a vocabulary lifestyle, i would think. LOL. I also added Jungalina (your girlie's) and Jungs ( quick connection) which i added to the mix. Yeah were junglee, thanks to him...its a lovely feeling. Junglee Love baby!

Junglee is forgetting my passport on the plane on our way to our destination spot, causing an emotional movie scene in the middle of the airport somewhere in Europe and bursting out with tears when it was left on the plane. Talking so loud and singing on the top of our lungs that we had the whole front of the plane to ourself, LOL. Showing off on the jet ski....blowing kisses to all the boys that were vying for our attention and almost tumbling over. Waking up uber early, so we could have our own little photoshoot...then plastering it all over FB...for the Eager and Curious. LMAO
Junglee is waiting at the hotel lobby of the Arts one of my favorite Hotels in Barcelona at 7am in the morning spaced the SHUCKS out, unitl Miss D comes to scoop me up, text messaging a hundread times till we get what we want. Jumping on the "oh so soft bed" till we land and crash. Eating all the goodies up in the bar, cause Miss D reassured me that its on the house. You know if its 5 star ...there gonna have it flashy. Causing chaos everywhere we go...till they had enough. Oh well, it happens!Junglee is poppin' champagne cause were thirsty at ten in the morning, then smothering cooking oil all over our bodies...Miss D stated it was the perfect Bora Bora island tan procedure after you baked in the sun ...it's going to turn your skin color Golden Caramel Brown with a tint of shine and sparkles. Burnt is more like it!Junglee is eating Haagan daz ice-cream...one after the other and trying all the flavors of the world...till your tummy hurts. Then mixing it in with tuna carpaccio, plate after plate until you would throw up and then doing it all over again, the next day.

Junglee is making faces and being foolish, then putting on Russian accents (no offense, im an actress) to get into club Sutton in Barcelona. Getting out of a cab looking and feeling like a trillion euros, game so tight, flow is great, scent so fresh, lips so pink...and then tripping and falling smack down on my ass in front of Club Pacha in Morocco. While Miss D and Miss S are having a little laugh along with the long line outside. What can i say in every which way...all eyes on US.

Youtube Yourself Famous Right!

Now there’s this thing called the Internet. Anyone can post just about anything on the web about themselves and hope to become famous. I read an article in Economist last week at the Heathrow Airport. It was about people who use the net to become famous. Most of these people they did idiotic things like post endless blog entries about themselves and put web cams in their bedrooms.

There’s no reason these people should become famous, and I never heard of any of them before, but for some reason this magazine thought these people were famous enough to write a story about them.

So, in short, if you want to become famous, develop an entertaining skill. Then, publicize this skill everywhere you can. Set up websites, print your name on bumper stickers, post posters with your picture on bulletin boards, in short, nag the hell out of people to get them to recognize your name. At worst, you will become a famous annoyance.

Maybe tomorrow I will set up my Sahars Poetry Blog. Right now, I am off to a Casa Mila to sit in on a writers group meeting. I won’t get famous tonight, but there’s always tomorrow. Later.

Nothing can slow her down now. She is pissed but giddy over the press she has received. Stupid paparazzi. And the studio keeps calling leaving threatening messages with her manager. Can’ they see she’s having a crisis? No one understands how hard it is to be in the spotlight constantly, she thinks.

Of course she parties a little, everyone does. She chuck s a fast food shake out the window, hitting an oncoming car. Fucking idiots. Well, this is my second attempt ever at writing a blog, again after Loosing my soul mate, one of my best friends Sahar so don't be surprised if it takes off in a couple of crazy directions! I plan on writing at least once a week to keep everyone updated on this blog as it was My Princess idea and she was so in to writing here with me..

It's been a rollercoaster year for me with lots of surprises and changes. Some of the things that have happened have really been extremely shocking. Human nature has really dumbfounded me at times as I learned how strange people can really be and how they can turn on you

But in the midst of the confusion and the haters, I found a corner of beauty and friendship which made me realize that it really is Quality over Quantity and we have a lot of acquaintances and not many friends per se. As they say, you can really count those good friends in life - who will stick with you thick and thin on one hand. THERE are some friends will stay in your life forever and there are some who enter you life only for a brief moment, to make an impact and in a flash their gone.
